GIRLS HYGIENE AND EMPOWERMENT:
in rural communities, 9 out 10 girls are unaware of their menstrual cycle. The Sanitary pads are a simple necessity, yet many young girls within the project areas were going without them. The costs of these products make them inaccessible for many low income families to struggle to make ends meet. Prior to the shipments many girls within the project areas were using unhygienic or unsanitary materials like clothes and tissue papers which sometimes give them infections. The Foundation has donated sanitary pads to 200 teenage girls in deprived communities and trained them on how to fix sanitary pads and how to dispose of them after use, from the proceeds of furniture from Waste to Wonder,UK. The Program has already increased productivity time of girls in class and eradicated menstrual related stress.
BLACKBOARD REPLACEMENT PROGRAMME:
A lot of schools in Ghana use the old aged blackboard system. The long use of these chalk and boards has adversely affected the eyes of many teachers which has caused visual impairment in most of the teachers from the dust. The Foundation with partnership with Waste to Wonder ,UK ,is gradually changing the narratives with whiteboard.
